Managing Partner

Mischa Wetzel

Fund COO, Transactions, PropTech, Smart Cities

As a seasoned VC with 200+ financing rounds under his belt, Mischa has accompanied start-ups on their journeys from seed to exit many times. An expert in both the business and the transactional aspects of venture, he does deals and sits on boards himself, but is also generally involved in all deal-terms-related discussions, legal and regulatory topics across the portfolio.

Mischa started his career as an entrepreneur in the web 1.0 era, co-founding multiple companies: Communications agency Styleheads, hiphop website www.rap.de, a record label and music publishing company, a joint venture with a publishing house, a.o. In the 2000s, he transitioned from entrepreneur to VC, managing IBB Ventures’ early-stage venture fund for Creative Industries before becoming a Partner at innogy Ventures where he focused mostly on PropTech and Smart City-related investments and oversaw all financing and exit transactions. Later, he supported portfolio companies of PropTech1, a European VC fund focusing on real estate innovation, to solve operational challenges, he advised growth companies on financing and M&A transactions, and built a sizable angel investment portfolio. Over the course of his VC career, Mischa sat on numerous boards, including Aupeo (acquired by Panasonic Automotive America), Sofatutor (exited to PE consortium), Moviepilot (acquired by Webedia) and many more.

As someone who has sat on both sides of the table, Mischa continues to feel excited about the potential of entrepreneurship to help solve today’s biggest challenges, and about the leverage venture funding can bring to bear by propelling technology from R&D to wide-spread adoption. Mischa holds a degree in Psychology, and an MBA from Warwick Business School.
