The pre-seed round was led by Vireo Ventures with participation from Italian Founders Fund. The startup already manages more than 1.8 GW of solar capacity through its autonomous AI workers – a first-of-a-kind deployment in the energy sector
Munich, May 19, 2026 – Invertix (https://www.invertix.ai/), a Munich-based startup building autonomous AI workers for the renewable energy industry, has closed a €1.7 million pre-seed funding round led by Vireo Ventures, with participation from Italian Founders Fund and a syndicate of angel investors active across the energy and artificial intelligence sectors.
Founded in 2026 by Joseph Perrotta and Kaan Durmaz, with operations split between Italy and Germany, Invertix is developing a FOAK (first of its kind) autonomous AI agents, what the company calls „AI workers”. The AI is designed to execute operational, analytical, and compliance tasks across the renewable energy sector, which still depend almost entirely on human teams.
Invertix already manages more than 1.8 GW of solar capacity through its autonomous AI workers and is currently working on commercial opportunities representing more than 10 GW of energy capacity, making it the first company in the world to deploy an AI workforce at this scale in the renewable energy sector.
A workforce gap behind the energy transition
The thesis behind Invertix emerged from more than 5,000 interviews and outreach conversations the founding team conducted with energy operators, asset managers, and IPPs across Europe. The picture that came back was consistent: the pace at which solar and wind capacity is being commissioned is not being matched by the operational headcount needed to run it. Alarm triage, performance reporting, maintenance dispatch, and regulatory compliance are increasingly bottlenecked at the human-labour layer.
“We are not building AI to replace people. We are building it to fill a gap that is already holding the energy transition back,“ said Joseph Perrotta, Co-Founder and CEO of Invertix. „Europe is commissioning solar, wind, and storage faster than it can hire and train the engineers needed to operate them. Skilled operational talent is in short supply, and the workload is piling up on the teams already in place. Invertix’s AI workers take on the repetitive operational tasks, so human experts can focus on the decisions that actually require them.“
Unlike traditional monitoring and analytics software, Invertix is not building “another dashboard,” but autonomous AI workers capable of carrying out operational tasks that are still performed manually by human teams today. The systems integrate directly with SCADA, CMMS, ERP, and energy and weather data platforms, enabling full deployment in approximately 60 days from contract signature.
The pre-seed capital will be deployed across three priorities
The new capital will be used to accelerate the platform’s technological development, expand the team and strengthen the company’s commercial presence across Europe. Invertix also plans to expand its AI workers beyond solar energy into wind, battery storage, and grid operations.
“The renewable energy sector needs more than incremental software improvements – commented Felix Krause, Managing Partner at Vireo Ventures – Invertix is tackling that with a team that is hungry, ambitious, deeply focused on customer value, and already translating vision into early results. That’s why we led their pre-seed”.
Invertix is also launching a major hiring plan, with new openings across AI engineering, software engineering, product, and sales, further strengthening its presence in Italy, which the company considers a strategic hub for engineering talent and technological development.
Irene Mingozzi, Partner at Italian Founders Fund, concluded: “Energy has never been more central to how the world works, politically, economically, and strategically. Making renewable assets perform at their best is no longer just an efficiency question, it’s an existential one. Invertix is building the intelligence layer to make that happen, with a founding team that has both the domain relationships and the AI depth to build a category-defining company”.
