Sven Heiligtag

Sven leverages his 20+years of experience and network in the global energy industry to invest and mentor and kickstart early-phase startups and advise more established players in the electrification ecosystem. He is an active partner in Vireo Ventures and a mentor in the Creative Destruction Lab and the Center of Entrepreneurship in Berlin.

 

Before joining Vireo Ventures, Sven has been 20 years with McKinsey & Company in their Global Energy and Materials practice, most recently leading the German and Japanese Energy and Materials practices. He built and led
McKinsey´s Global Corporate Strategy, Finance and Risk Service Line over the past 10 years and worked with numerous energy players in Germany, Europe, the US and Japan. He was an instrumental part in designing and executing the transformation of the German energy industry players RWE, E.On and innogy and in transforming the Danish Oil & Gas incumbent DONG Energy in the leading Global Offshore Wind player Orsted. In his past 5 years at McKinsey, he has focused on helping energy players to transition fit-for-purposefully in the „new energy world“ by digitizing their core business activities, building new business areas especially in the renewables, e-mobility and hydrogen space and creating future bets by setting up innovation hubs, venture activities and partnerships. 

 

In sum, Sven has worked and works intensively with established players from the „old energy world“ and a variety of startup companies and organisations in the broader energy and startup ecosystem across adjacent industries including the setup of a multi-utility venture capital fund.
